Mary
Lind Recovery Centers offers a six-month residential substance abuse recovery program
in a stable, structured and supportive living environment. A
minimum of six hours of planned treatment and recovery activities
per day are provided under the supervision of trained staff.
All counselors are either certified by the California Association
of Addiction Recovery Resources (CAARR) or are enrolled in the
CAARR Institute to become certified. Mary Lind provides
12-step meetings, substance abuse education, anger management,
curriculums in parenting and family reunification, individual
counseling, plus adult education, life skills, and vocational
guidance.
Our Adult Education and Vocational
Guidance programs serve more than 600 men and women
per year, many of whom are illiterate and have never held
a full-time job. Once clients have completed the first
90 days of their recovery/treatment plan, they prepare to
enter the work force. This preparation includes academic and/or
vocational education.
Our Adult
Education curriculum includes L.A.U.S.D. instructor
taught computer and G.E.D. classes on-site at the Royal Palms
Recovery Center. Classes are open to all residents.
The training greatly enhances our residents' ability to obtain and keep a
job, and/or pursue further education. Our teaching methods
include instructor-led classes, peer-to-peer tutoring in
reading and math, and
computer-assisted training.
Our Vocational
Guidance program includes employment readiness assessment,
and functional literacy and interpersonal skills testing.
In addition, clients are coached in developing employment
resources, job search strategy, resume preparation, interviewing
techniques and attire, employment application completion,
phone etiquette, and interview follow-up procedures.
